On two occasions in approx 1984, I (Kath Clarke) and my aunt Emma Huntley, (Vera's first cousin) visited Vera at her home in Buttaba. She was a very independent dear old lady living on her own, very interested in cacthing up on the family history. She had seen Emma only a short time before on the train travelling to Newcastle and was very excited in catching up on all her relatives then, she like most of us who lose contact with one another over a period of time, especially when you come from a very large family. Vera's home is on the banks of Lake Macquarie, it has a jetty which has been built to go out into deeper the water of the lake. She has been able to enjoy the numerous activities carried out on the lake, it is a beautiful spot. Vera sent me the copy of her parents photo. The last time I was speaking to Vera's brother Bob, he said she had celebrated her ninetieth birthday with a family celebration at her home.
