Alpheus C. Grist, Jr., 76, of Signal Mountain, died on Monday, January 20, 2014.  

Al was born in Chattanooga where he graduated from The McCallie School and was a 1961 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Al worked as a mechanical engineer at Davies Engineering of Chattanooga.  He was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hooks Grist; son, Alan (Cerise) Grist of Ringgold, Georgia; and daughter, Erin (Brian) May of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Alan, Jr. and Sara.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 24, from 5-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace and Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. William Dudley officiating. 

A private burial will be held prior to the service.
